Description: Product Description:
This is a vintage
aluminum canning sieve, complete with the stand,
wooden pestle and a 1974 Ball Blue Book, an "Easy Guide to Tasty, Thrifty Canning and Freezing."
The sieve, (also known as: colander, tomato juicer,
food mill, strainer, ricer, etc.) is Kitchen Craft brand, made from heavy
aluminum. You can tell it's been used, but there are many
good years in it yet. The stand is very solid and has
rubber feet. The
wooden pestle fits the cone perfectly and looks clean - I doubt if it was ever used. When the cone is in the stand, it's 10-1/2" high. The inside diameter of the cone opening is 7."
The 1974 Ball Blue Book will tell you everything you need to know to safely preserve your fruits, vegetables, and meats, including loads of recipes for tomato products, pickles, jams & jellies, meats, and much more. There's a cute recipe page at the end, "How to Preserve a Husband."
The book measures 5-1/2" x 9," with 112 pages. It's in very
good condition - the cover shows wear and has a little scribble on the back, but the inside is great. I found just a couple very minor
kitchen stains.
